Remember when the anticipation of Christmas was almost too much? Meeting Santa Clause at the local department store with your list in hand? You hoped for at least something on your list to be under the tree Christmas morning. Remember waiting for that annual showing of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or A Charlie Brown Christmas, hoping you didn’t miss it as it was only shown once a year. Preparing for, getting dressed up for, and being nervous to perform in your school’s Christmas concert, just weeks before Christmas. The wonder of the holiday season was a special time to children who grew up in decades past. We will remember some of those moments at we walk Downtown Janesville and remember how Downtown the center of all things Christmas until the opening of the Janesville Mall was was in the early 1970s. It will be a walk down memory lane as we journey through the decades. We will also learn about our modern Christmas traditions that originated from Charles Dickens and Victorian England. Our tour will end with a warmup of hot cocoa or mulled cider and holiday treats.
